FOR THE INFORMED SHOPPER
Welcome to my new blog, Roland Paulley Design, which addresses a need I began to recognize as the design and retail markets have changed in the West Palm Beach area since I moved here in 2002. My goal is to keep this growing community, as well as the informed shopper, up to date.
Today West Palm Beach has become a formidable shopping destination with its influx of part-time and permanent residents. Its proximity to Palm Beach proper, although noted, has become less important. WPB also benefits as a mecca for shoppers from surrounding Florida cities that lack the synergy West Palm Beach has developed. My background is in architectural and interior design, and I know my way around period antiques as well as contemporary furniture and design. While living part-time in Spain, I imported and sold Spanish textiles and accessories in Atlanta. I have designed and
had made prototypical furniture for clients. I authored a book for the Atlanta History Center, A Classical Intermezzo, An Architect’s Life, on the architect Henri Jova, and his influence on Atlanta.

I am an inveterate shopper and browser and have done it religiously on several continents for more years than I want to count. There is so much to explore and report on now with what is happening in West Palm Beach that I am excited to begin a
regular posting of what I find of interest to share. As we move through the summer, Antique Row is gearing up for the upcoming Season. Show Pony has moved from Flamingo Park to the newly invigorated Warehouse District on Elizabeth Street next to the old Grandview Market. Georgian Avenue continues to grow and attract an expanding rooster of shops, artists, artisans, galleries, and workshops with their own special vibe. Please stay tuned for continuing updates!
