FOR THE INFORMED SHOPPPER
We are half-way through our Winter Season in West Palm Beach. Sales have been good many of the storekeepers tell me. I did a quick tour of some of the shops on the row and here is what I learned.
The J F Gallery is experiencing a good season and is encouraged by the mix of people, including a younger crowd who come into the gallery looking for contemporary art.
Woodard Home, new this season to the Row, has settled in and deftly created a welcoming look with a thoughtful selection of new and vintage items. Great selection of decorative pillows.
Wardalls has been on the street for as long as I can remember. They continue to specialize in a wide array of furniture, lighting and accessories. Always worth a visit to see what is new.
Paula Roemer has accomplished her move several doors down to her new location on the Row. The move is mostly a done deal now. I came in just as Rinato Handling was finishing up. I’m glad I wasn’t around to see all the moving parts in play. The shop specializes in items that designers and decorators appreciate. Paula Roemer continues to have her shop further down S. Dixie Highway in the SOSO Design District as well.
Faustina Pace Antiques, emporium might be a better word, comprises several storefronts. She has an arresting inventory of items you can’t live without. Asked to describe her store’s “look,” she said it doesn’t have one. She describes her shop as displaying items that speak to her. Well, it’s a great look. Check it out.
Motivo Home is relatively new to the Row. It is a full-service interior design studio. In addition they carry a selection of accessories that reflect their contemporary design philosophy. Open weekly, it is a nice addition to the street.
Circling back to the title of this blog: Antique Row Art and Design District. The new name reflects the growing number of design and home decor related businesses that have located on the street. The furniture and accessory shops here are unique, diverse, beautifully and personally curated and can hold their own anywhere. The new influx of interior and landscape design studios adds to the mix along with shops selling building materials for flooring, bath and kitchen, etc. Allowing the informed shopper a wider opportunity to find just what they want in one location.
